    Hey swing kids!

Andrew Sutton is coming to Charlottesville November 14-15 to teach lindy-blues fusion workshops! If you’ve ever seen him dance, you know this is a pretty amazing opportunity. He blends blues and tango in an incredibly sexy and musical way. Check out this video of him and Laura Glaess just lesson planning...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPoldbxYwi0

This event includes eight workshops, two dances, and a late night, as well as a Thanksgiving dinner!

For complete information, here’s the SwingCville website about it: http://www.swingcville.com/workshops/

    Here’s where to register: http://www.eventbee.com/event/register;jsessionid=5DBA0CD18C0CE9CCA6CE3CFB6200E972?eid=63000

There is a $50 discount for the first 10 leads and follows that sign up, and there are still spots available. I’ve asked about student discounts or scholarships, so I’ll make a posting here when I hear about that.

As before, when you register for this, please list me as the person who referred you to this event by sending an email to swingcville@gmail.com to let them know.

I really hope to see some of you at this event! At least think about sending your blues and lindy teachers (perhaps club funding?) to increase Solely Swing's repertoire!

  2. I'm like 95% sure I'm going to this. Andrew Sutton is seriously one of the most inventive dancer's I've ever seen. I took a private lesson with him 2 years ago at Lindy Focus and it completely changed the way I think about leading and following. He's the inventor of the famous "contact lindy" dance and his blues is one of the most unique styles I've seen. I'm going to register asap - anyone else? It's $50 off right now so you should take advantage of that! Let me know if you're going.

I *wish* that I could go to this. But I have no time. Seriously, everyone should consider going to this. He's amazing.

    Hey guys!

I talked to Chelsea this weekend, and she said that if they don't get some more sign-ups this week, they're going to have to cancel this event. :( Now I've talked to FOUR of you who all said you were 90% sure you were going to go. When I told Chelsea that, and she said that alone could allow this workshop to happen. So please, if you want to support this amazing event, don't wait until it's too late!

Also, I've pretty much only been inviting leads... so leads, convince your favorite follows to come along. ;)

Let me know when you've signed up!

    Thanks,
    Amber

When you sign up, please remember to send an email to swingcville@gmail.com to tell them that I referred you to this! They're letting me and Z help advertise in exchange for excellent rewards, so we'd really appreciate it. :)

    Can't wait for this!!!

If it's the 14th I might be able to go. I wouldn't be able to leave until that morning (I have something on Friday night that I need to go to), but it's only about 2.5 hours away....

    Hmmm....

Sign-ins starts at 9:30, so if we leave around 6:30 or 7:00 it's doable...I'd be willing to drive since I'd be the one that caused the late start.

I'm registered! But again, I don't think that I will be able to leave until late late late Friday or early Saturday.

    Whee!

    Hi!

I would love to go if I could get a ride with somebody! I will pay for gas, make interesting conversation and all that jazz.

So I am thinking about a private lesson. Anybody willing to split one with me?

    Hi cool happyface people!

This constitutes my attempt to revive this thread so as to better discover who is going to the Fusion workshops at UVA so as to better find a way to get there! Could anybody who this applies to (probably you if you are reading it >:P) spend a quick minute to post up which days they plan to leave and return on and whether they need, have, or are willing to offer a ride?

    Thank you!

Hey, Richard and I are planning on attending this--we will be driving, but I'm not sure how much extra space we have. Alex, you may be able to join us; I'll holla at Richard. I suppose we will be leaving sometime Friday evening and returning after the last workshop on Sunday... it goes until 5:30--so I guess this will be a somewhat late evening.

Ok, so I'm registered but I'm now thinking that I might not be able to go. Is anyone interested in buying my ticket (I got the early bird registration price). I'll know more a little closer to the event but with house issues, I think that I might just need to spend the weekend at home.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to this! I had a blast this weekend, especially seeing those of you who came up (I missed the rest of you!). Solely Swing even got mentioned in the "special thanks" section of the program for bringing so many people. We rock! :)

Can't wait to see you guys again. <3
