I am planning to go to this, I think that Jae, Angela and John are planning to go as well.

    Anyone else?

Hey, are we going to register as a group? I saw that was an option and I didn't know if we could call ourselves the "Va tech group" or something. We'd have to put the "leader" of the group down. Any thoughts?

I haven't heard if there's any group discounts or such. Go ahead and put my name down as the 'group leader'. Guess it wouldn't hurt. But before registering, let me find us a place to crash since the registration page is asking for one. I'll find one before the month is over since there's an early bird deadline.

I looked at the hotel for prices and for the hotel that EBC is at has rates of 80.99 per night for a 2 double bed room.

  10. Everyone should go to this regardless of your bal level. Balboa is one of the most useful dances you can learn for further improving your personal control and ability in any dance. I would argue that between working on blues and balboa, your lindy and every other dance form will exponentially get better. Both blues and balboa focus on close partner connection and interaction, and both explore the "less is more" principle when dancing. It can be really hard to work on these principles if you only lindy.

That all being said, this is one of the most acclaimed events of the year on the east coast. Though I have never been, the people I meet that have been have an enthusiasm for it that rivals Lindy Focus! It's an incredible opportunity.

I am crying myself to sleep every night because I already committed to serve in a conference in DC that same weekend, so all who go, dance one for me :(.

You haven't experienced in life until you've experienced silky smooth balboa. There are different tracks for different skill level, so it's highly recommended for everyone. And like Lindy Focus, you get to meet/dance with almost all of the big names on the east coast.

You've seen John and me dance, but we really pale in comparison to these guys. Seeing them in action is enough of a motivator. :-)

I was extremely lucky and managed 2 dances with one of these guys and it blew my mind! I was wavering in going, but after dancing with Chris and talking to him after, I was set to go!

The subtleties in the dance that he was able to convey was amazing and after that first dance I honestly felt like I was floating. It was seriously one of the best dances I have had to date and I can't wait to get there.

    Everyone should go to this.

According to the EBC website, Nick Williams is one of the instructors. I didn't realize he was so famous until my friend pointed him out to me on Wednesday and said I should dance with him. IT WAS THE BEST DANCE OF MY LIFE, WOW! :D

I suppose there is just the one flat rate of $145? In that case I unfortunately can't go because Camp Hollywood is about twice that amount.

It's $145 til the end of July -- goes up by $5 at the time. You sure you can't go? EBC isn't until Halloween!

I don't know Jae, I like Balboa and I think I'm doing a great job picking it up but I just went to Camp Hollywood and I'm not sure if I'll have $145 by that time. It's possible because I'll have a bookstore job for a little while at the beginning of the year but I will have to save like a penny pinching old lady to make it happen! are there scholarships for this? I'm going to look into it.
