Advanced Workshops with Trey and Amy

We're pleased to welcome Richmond instructors Amy Givler and Trey Gomes to Virginia Tech! You might recognize Amy as a Solely Swing officer and instructor, but for this weekend she's teaming up with her dance partner of 5 years, Trey. Trey and Amy have taught many local and regional workshops and have been helping spread the fun and excitement of Lindy for many years. Trust us, you're in for a special treat!

Workshop 1: Bal-Swing Incorporated into Lindy:

Born from a surplus of tempo and a shortage of floor space, Bal-Swing was a popular dance on the West Coast during the Swing Era. Since both Lindy and Bal-Swing share the same music there are lots of fun transitions between the two. So come along and learn some fun steps from these two swing dance BFFs.

Workshop 2: Fast Lindy:

Ah, the band just started their smokin' fast extended version of Tiger Rag and you're fresh out of Red Bull... Fear not! Excessively speedy music shall no longer condemn you to Pure-Bal, Collegiate Shag and the occasional Charleston basic! With some Fast Lindy connection and fundamentals, your swingouts will be making the jump to Ludicrous Speed!
Note: The ability to dance to fast tempos is not required; we only ask that you are an advanced dancer who would like to be able to swingout to those faster songs.

Workshop 3: Leadable Lindy Variations and Styling:

Also known as Followable Lindy Variations and Styling. Inject some fun and energy into your dancing with some moves and tricks and thingies for the social dance floor.

Workshop 4: Solo Charleston:

Partners? We don't need no stinking partners! Almost everything in solo Charleston can fit into both Partnered Charleston and Lindy. Not to mention Solo Charleston is a lot of freakin' fun! We'll have more Solo Charleston variations and stylings than you can shake a stick at. No partner or stick required.
